Comparing Credit Cards

Are you on the market for a new credit card?  First of all, if you already have a handful, it is unlikely you need any more.  If you have credit card debt, you don’t need anymore either.  If you have debt and are offered a card with a lower rate, transferring the balance and not charging to any credit card for now is a good idea.

Otherwise, making credit card comparisons can help you find the best credit card for your individual situation.  There are a large variety of cards available.  You can get rewards cards for travel, gas purchases, or overall rewards, you can get a business card if you have your own business, or you can get a general card.  Comparing credit cards as well as measuring them against your needs is necessary to get the card that will work optimum for you.

If you have bad credit or no credit, your best option is to go for a secured credit card.  This type of card will cost you a large deposit, but it is necessary to build credit, has guaranteed approval, and you will get your money back with interest.  After you’ve had this type of card for a year or so and have proven yourself, you will be offered a regular card with a corresponding interest rate.

If you travel a lot or charge to your card a lot in general, a rewards card will suit you.  You can earn points or cash back for every dollar you spend.  Points can be redeemed for a variety of things such as flyer miles.

No matter what type of credit card you choose, make sure you pay off the balance in full each month.  If you can’t do this, you are spending more money than you can afford to.  What makes you think you can pay off the debt in the future if you can’t this month?  Minimize your credit card purchases to necessities and use your card wisely.
